Special interests include internal medicine, endoscopy, orthopedics and soft tissue surgery. Larry served for nine years as a representative to the American Board of Veterinary Specialists. He served fourteen years in the American Veterinary Medical Association's House of Delegates followed by six years on the AVMA Executive Board. He currently serves as treasurer of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. He is a charter diplomat by examination of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and has served as president of that specialty college. Larry was a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association's Executive Board for many years and has served as the FVMA's president. Larry has also served as president of the American Animal Hospital Association as well as the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. Larry has serve as president of Florida Animal Friend, Inc., (which is funded by proceeds from the Florida spay/neuter license plate) and continues to serve on their Board of Directors. Larry chaired the Broward County Animal Care and Regulation Advisory Committee as well as the Broward County Pet Overpopulation Focus Group. He continues to serve as the co-chair of the FVMA College Advisory Committee.
Larry has been honored as Practitioner of the Year by the FVMA and the AAHA. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Auburn University and has received the WSAVA International Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession. He has lectured nationally and internationally and has contributed to more than 35 veterinary publications.
Larry's personal interests are animal welfare, organized veterinary medicine, travel, and golf. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Rotary Club and is currently their President-elect. He is indebted to his wife and family for their unstinting support throughout his career.
