The friendly, professional staff here at VCA Kickingbird Animal Hospital is made up of dedicated individuals who have made it their mission to help pets live long, healthy lives. To be true to the mission, each team member helps us deliver the best patient and client experience for both you and your pet. We are always learning and striving to improve our ability to provide quality services for your pets. If things get complicated, we are fortunate to have access to the nation's largest network of VCA veterinarians and board-certified specialists.
Over the years, we have seen our staff grow from one to over 40, we have seen our facility transform from a remodeled strip mall to a state-of-the-art hospital, but the most remarkable change has been a state of mind - how we see our pets today. For most of us, our pets provide us with unconditional love and acceptance - depending upon us. Pets bring us comfort and enrich our lives in ways that cannot be measured. They can sense our low points and giving us what we need the most - their loving presence. Our patients and clients are the reason we are here. We are planning for the future and we will strive to continue improving and learning for the benefit of your pets and your family.

Dr. Holder became established as our Medical Director in May of 2012. Dr. Holder was raised in Moore, Oklahoma. She graduated in 1985 from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. After working for Marion Laboratories in cardiovascular pharmacology research, she graduated in 1995 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri.
After receiving her DVM, Dr. Holder completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Auburn University. She began her general practice at New Hope Animal Hospital in Rogers, AR. Then, life took her to Champaign, IL where she worked for the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center and co-founded the Animal Emergency Clinic of Champaign County. Her next stop was Kalamazoo, MI where she worked for the Southwest Michigan Animal Emergency Center and Referral Hospital at nights and the Kalamazoo Animal Hospital during the days. Another move took her to VCA All Critters Animal Hospital in Sammamish, WA. The opportunity for her to return home to Oklahoma came in late 2010. Dr. Holder was initially part of the team at VCA Woodland Central Animal Hospital in Tulsa before settling into her current role here in 2012.
Dr. Holder currently lives in Stillwater with her husband Keith. They share their home with Blanche, Belle, and Jack, 3 sweet canines that often visit us here and have also become a part of our family. Her husband and she enjoy hiking, fly-fishing, and spending time with their families.
Emily Zabrecky joined the VCA Kickingbird team in August of 2014. She has been a valuable addition with her experience, organizational and training skills. She grew up in Kentucky, received a Biology degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and a certification in Veterinary Technology from Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2007. She came to us with over 10 years of veterinary experience and she puts that to good use every day, while continuously adding to her repertoire. Her family includes her husband, son, and two dogs. The best part of her job is that she is always learning from the people around her and never knows what will walk through the door next.
