Ava

Veterinary Assistant

Ava was born and raised in Carrollton, Texas. She's currently working toward her certification as a veterinary assistant through Penn Foster. Her past dog, Stuie, inspired her to get into the veterinary field to help sick animals as he battled multiple chronic illnesses of his own. Ava started working with VCA Preston Park in June 2026.

Ava is particularly interested in veterinary internal medicine. Since starting here, her favorite part of her work has been getting to know each pet's story and seeing their owners take them home happily after a successful visit. She thinks pet owners should know that every pet we see gets the best care available, and that we're always here for them and what they need.

At home, Ava has a cat named Primrose. She adopted her a few years ago as a kitten, and Primrose is very silly and spoiled. Primrose knows how to get a laugh, too. The running joke in Ava's family is that Primrose doesn't know her own name when you call her, but she can hear any door opening from a mile away.

The best piece of advice Ava's received is to take things one day at a time, because there's always tomorrow. Her guiding principle is the golden rule: "Treat others as you wish to be treated." In her free time, Ava loves drawing, reading, going out with her ministry on the weekends, and volunteering at construction sites.
