Birdy was born in South Texas and raised traveling around the U.S. with her family in an RV before settling in the Sherman-Denison area four years ago. She's a senior in Texas Tech's online high-school program and is additionally studying for her veterinary assistant certification through Texas A&M. She was inspired to get into veterinary medicine by her family, who celebrate a long history of caring for bovines. Her grandfather was a rancher for over 30 years, and Birdy loves caring for cattle too. She began working at VCA Preston Park in August 2026.
Birdy's special veterinary interests include pathology, neuroscience, zoonotic diseases, nerve and tissue diseases, bloodborne pathogens, prion diseases, and bovine health. So far, Birdy's favorite part of her job here has been getting to learn while helping to provide care for animals in need.
At home, Birdy has a few pets of her own! Shoot Dangit is her orange and white tabby kitten. He was rescued from under a tractor, and he loves to attack people's feet as they pass him. She also has Sunny, a senior female German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix. Sunny is incredibly sweet and loves to sleep and chase cows. Birdy has a large orange tabby cat named Queso, who is about a quarter Maine Coon. He's a big baby that loves to chase mice and kids for fun.
If Birdy were an animal, she would want to be a goose. She loves geese! She thinks they're pretty and loves that they're great parents, but she also knows people are often scared of them and wouldn't mind that herself.
The best piece of advice Birdy has been given comes from Matthew 6:34, "...do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." In her free time, Birdy enjoys playing the drums with her rock band, playing football with her friends, painting, drawing, reading, and helping her church with their social media.
