Corinne

Veterinary Assistant

AVA

Corinne was born and raised in Allen, Texas. She has a bachelor's degree in Conservation Biology from Seattle University. Additionally, she holds her Fear Free certification and is an Approved Veterinary Assistant.  Corinne became passionate about animal care early on due to her combined love of animal sciences and continuous learning. She's been a part of VCA since June 2020.

Corinne takes a special veterinary interest in avians, particularly raptors. Since 2022, she's volunteered with a local raptor rehabilitation facility. There, she's learned a bit more about veterinary medicine beyond the care of our canine and feline companions. She added that working with wildlife requires more outside-the-box thinking, as their care is less studied, and she believes her time there has helped her become more creative and thoughtful in aiding our veterinarians with treatment plans. Within our hospital, Corinne's favorite thing is to witness the transition our sick patients make when they recover and return to happy, healthy living. She believes all our clients ought to know that we consider your pets our family, too.

At home, Corinne has two bunnies, Draco and Ursa. They're small and shy and enjoy lazing about the house...unless Corinne is sleeping, at which point all bets are off. She also has the lovely Fern, whom she refers to fondly as a faerie woodland creature. Fern is a small, mixed-breed pup with very strong Pomeranian and Chihuahua ties. She loves to tippy-tap around the front desk or curl up for a nap when she's spending some time here with the team. Many clients have shared that they adore Fern, and she's become a VCA Preston Park celebrity!

If Corinne could be any animal, she shared that she'd want to be a seal. They look blissful when lying on their warm rocks, except when they're bellowing, which Corinne finds relatable. She reflected that the best piece of advice she's been given is that the time will pass anyway, which is also part of an inspirational quote from Earl Nightingale, "Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway." She added that she's also heard plenty of great advice and words of wisdom from our team.

Beyond her work here and at the raptor center, Corinne enjoys reading fantasy novels, baking sweet treats, and playing video games.  She likes to experiment with different recipes, but especially loves making cookies and brownies.
