Originally from Oregon, Dr. Hughes returned to the Willamette Valley in 2023 after completing his undergraduate and veterinary degrees in Western Canada. He graduated with a combined Oceanography and Biology degree from the University of British Columbia before obtaining his DVM in 2022 at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hughes is particularly interested in internal medicine, emergency care, dermatology, and senior patient management, and he values working in a diverse hospital where he can provide both urgent and primary care services. When not working at VCA Salem Animal Hospital, he enjoys exploring the Oregon coast, beachcombing, mountain biking, trail running, and entertaining his cat Benny at home.
