Pet Boarding

Boarding staff with dog at VCA Wexford Animal Hospital

The nearly 4000 sq. ft. luxury boarding facility is at the rear of our main hospital with its own separate entrance and staff. We can host up to 100 cats and dogs safely and comfortably. Our veterinary professionals and experienced management team are readily available to oversee the care and well-being of each one of our guests.

Choose from spacious individual and family dog runs, value-based cages, and even a luxury cat condo housing complex designed for our more adventurous feline friends and their companions. We also have a feline play and enrichment room as well as a completely enclosed canine exercise yard with the industry’s leading synthetic grass surface designed specifically for dogs, K9Grass by ForeverLawn. Grooming and day-stay opportunities are also available by appointment. Day-stays are a great opportunity for clients to keep their pets cared for and entertained while attending to their own personal needs. Day stays are generally scheduled in advance with an associated fee of $30 per day.

VCA Wexford Animal Hospital’s Pet Hotel provides blankets and beds of all shapes and sizes, and Kuranda raised cots for our guests’ comfort. You are also welcome to bring anything from home that might make your pet feel more comfortable including toys, blankets, and food. However, please be aware that we are not responsible for lost, damaged, or soiled items.

We feed our guests Purina EN which is an easily digested premium maintenance diet. If you do want to bring your pet’s own food, we recommend that you pre-measure it and put it in a Ziploc bag or a small Tupperware container. Please bring any prescription or special needs diets. Canned or refrigerated foods are acceptable, however we cannot feed any form of raw diets in our facility including freeze dried raw diets.

If your pet is receiving medication, we will be happy to administer it. You will need to provide your pet’s medications and clear instructions for their use. If you forget to provide their medication (or additional is needed) and we carry it in our pharmacy, the hospital will be happy to dispense it as necessary. Please try to keep medications in their original containers, especially if they are from different pharmacies, so that the staff can clearly identify them. If medications have been removed from their original containers, please provide a detailed list including name, size, color, and dose.

Please note that the Pet Hotel is only available for active and current patients of VCA Wexford Animal Hospital. Pets evaluated by one of our staff veterinarians within 12 months of their boarding reservation and current on their required vaccinations are eligible for boarding and grooming services. The facility is not currently available for non-client use.

Due to the demand for reservations, we strongly encourage clients to schedule well in advance of their pet’s anticipated stay with us. For this same reason, a fee of $50 will be charged for any no-show or late reservation cancellations after 72 hours (about 3 days) prior to scheduled drop-off.

Hours of Operation

If possible, allow 15 minutes for check in so we can make sure all details for your pets’ stay are covered! Hours of operation are also noted below. Vaccination Requirements

Required vaccines are to be updated prior to drop off. Please note, if our veterinarians cannot verify vaccine history, then the required vaccines will be administered to your pet and added to your invoice. Vaccines given by owners will NOT be accepted at this facility.

  • Dogs: DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella & Influenza*
  • Cats: FVRCP and Rabies

*Due to increasing disease incidence and the highly infectious nature of Canine Influenza (CIV) and Kennel Cough (CIRDC), we will be requiring both Flu and Bordetella vaccines for any canine guests. Additional information can be provided by our staff.

Boarding for Special Needs Patients

Our pet hotel staff is dedicated to the individual needs of our boarders. While some patients are not good candidates for our pet hotel, we can accommodate animals that are not accepted at regular boarding facilities due to daily required medical care. Whether they are diabetic, geriatric, or in need of multiple daily medications/injections, we can often arrange specialized care for your pet while you’re away. Pets receiving daily injections will incur a $5 per day fee, regardless of the number of injections needed. Pets with significant mobility issues that benefit from enhanced staff support and care will incur a $10 per day fee. Please remember there are limitations and we do not have 24-hour staff on-site. Please call the office with any questions or concerns regarding your pet’s boarding reservation.
