Dr. Wessel was born and raised in Atascadero, California, but currently resides and commutes from the mountains of Arizona! She attended UC Davis with Highest Honors in 2010 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine equivalent degree in 2014 from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr. Wessel first joined VCA as a relief veterinarian in the spring of 2022 and became part-time in 2024. She enjoys working with a great team and knowing that every day in emergency medicine is different. Her professional certifications include RECOVER CPR and Low Stress Handling-Silver Level. Dr. Wessel works to spend time with her family and friends and has a strong passion for travel. She loves camping and spending time outdoors in the Sierras and southwest Colorado and also cherishes her time with Louie and Ellie, two brindle mix dogs, and Cheddar, a flame point feline goblin from the streets. She is part of a book club and also participates in several new mom groups.
