Travis Taylor, Medical Director

DVM

Dr. Travis Taylor, a Northern Virginia native, became interested in veterinary medicine while growing up on a small family farm in Nokesville. In addition to taking care of animals on the farm, Dr. Taylor began his veterinary career as a teenager working at a local animal hospital.  After graduating from Virginia Tech, Dr. Taylor went on to receive his Doctorate degree from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. His post-graduate work was completed through the Perdue Veterinary Management Institute. In May 2012, Dr. Taylor received his executive MBA from George Mason University.

Dr. Taylor joined Centreville Animal Hospital in 2003 upon graduation. He started as an Associate Veterinarian and was promoted to the role of Hospital Director in 2005. From 2011-2016 he and his spouse, Dr Crystal Taylor, co-owned Centreville Animal Hospital. In 2016 the Taylors took the hospital to the next level by partnering with VCA. Dr. Taylor has ensured that VCA Centreville Animal Hospital continues to be a practice devoted to providing the best quality veterinary care to our community as well as dedicated to strengthening the human-animal bond.

Dr. Taylor is an active member of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA) where he served previously as secretary/treasurer, American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) where he has served in the past capacity of Secretary/Treasurer and Officer.

Dr. Taylor currently serves as a mentor to students actively involved or seeking involvement in veterinary medicine. He is passionate about promoting patient care through collaboration within the profession. He enjoys challenging cases especially where the patient's quality of life can be improved with the aid of surgical procedures.

The Taylors have two young sons, Grant and Oliver. Their four-legged family includes a foxhound cross named Brix from the local shelter, Trellis, a rescued Great Dane, two cats, Emma and Carrot and a house trained potbellied pig named Pancetta. The Taylors live on a working farm focusing on show hunter horses and grass-fed Angus beef cattle.

He enjoys multiple hobbies including: working on and driving a vintage British sports car, vintage John Deere tractors, traveling and catching the occasional Jimmy Buffet Concert. In 2013 the Taylors lost "Harley" the Great Dane who was a beloved member of the Taylor family for eleven and a half years. In Harley's memory, the Taylors have set up a non-profit organization called "Harley's Healers" that helps provide veterinary care to patients in need.

The Taylors have had a history in the Virginia wine industry starting up their own vineyard. In 2018 they sold the vineyard so they could place all their efforts in their Warrenton farm.
