Staff Veterinarian

DVM, CCRP

Dr. David Stillman is a veterinarian at VCA Flannery Animal Hospital in New Windsor, NY, where he provides experienced, compassionate care for pets through both general practice and emergency veterinary medicine. Known for his steady medical judgment and thoughtful approach, Dr. Stillman works closely with families to evaluate concerns, provide clear guidance, and help pets receive the care they need when it matters most.

With more than three decades of experience and deep roots in the Hudson Valley community, Dr. Stillman has cared for generations of pets and built lasting relationships with the families who trust VCA Flannery for their veterinary care. He believes the most meaningful medicine begins with listening, taking time to understand each pet’s situation, and helping clients feel confident in the decisions they make for their pet’s health.

“I treat every pet as if they were my own. When families trust you with someone they love, it’s a responsibility I take very seriously.”

Dr. Stillman earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. After practicing for one year, he joined Flannery Animal Hospital in October 1990 and has been a dedicated member of the hospital team ever since.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Stillman developed strong surgical experience, including orthopedic procedures. While he no longer performs orthopedic surgery, that experience continues to shape his diagnostic approach and medical decision-making. Today, his primary focus is emergency medicine and general veterinary care, where his medical experience and calm presence help guide pets and families through urgent and complex medical situations.

Dr. Stillman is also affiliated with the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, reflecting his continued commitment to emergency veterinary medicine and patient care.

A lifelong member of the local community, Dr. Stillman was born and raised in nearby Newburgh, New York, and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. His long connection to the Hudson Valley gives him a deep appreciation for the families and pets he cares for every day.

“Veterinary medicine is about more than treating illness. It’s about helping families navigate difficult moments and making sure pets receive thoughtful, compassionate care.”

Dr. Stillman values the trust clients place in him and takes pride in helping pets live healthier, more comfortable lives while supporting the people who love them.
