Melanie Shapiro
Relief Veterinarian DVM

Dr. Shapiro graduated from Brandeis University in 2012 and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2016. Dr. Shapiro then went on to complete a rotating internship at Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group in Brooklyn, New York. She then worked as a general practitioner in New York City for several years before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona for an opportunity at Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine. During that time, Dr. Shapiro served as a clinical assistant professor in Small Animal Urgent Care where she trained students and new graduates clinically, and gave several lecture hours on emergency medicine topics. In 2024, Dr. Shapiro moved back to the east coast and now serves the Hudson Valley as a relief veterinarian. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, NYS Veterinary Medical Society, and Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society. In her spare time, Dr. Shapiro enjoys spending time with her husband and their rescue mutt, Wallace. She also enjoys traveling, physical fitness, hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding.
