Hometown Care at VCA Parkcrest Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge

Since opening our doors in the late 1960s, we’ve built a reputation as a trusted, community-focused veterinary hospital in Springfield, MO. Whether your pet needs preventive care, specialized treatments, or emergency services, we’re here for you every step of the way. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital radiology and ultrasound to ensure your pet receives the best care available.

At the heart of our practice is Dr. Randy Garoutte, our seasoned veterinary medical director, who has a deep passion for canine and feline family practice. Dr. Garoutte specializes in preventive medicine and endocrinology, and he believes in building strong relationships with both his patients and their families. When he's not caring for pets, Dr. Garoutte enjoys traveling to National Parks and spending time with his wife and two daughters, who are the loves of his life.

Dr. Vicki Black, a southwest Missouri native, brings a wealth of experience in mixed animal medicine and small animal care. Her primary interests lie in preventive wellness, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Black is deeply committed to helping her clients enhance the bond with their pets and improve their pets' quality of life. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Black enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and her two dogs, Willow and Radar, as well as her cat, Captain Jake. Gardening, camping, and outdoor activities are some of her favorite pastimes.

Dr. Jody Hanson, with over 19 years of experience in surgery, emergency care, and small animal medicine, brings specialized knowledge in abdominal ultrasound and pain relief for older pets. Dr. Hanson also has a strong interest in veterinary herbal medicine, integrating natural remedies to enhance healing and comfort. Outside the hospital, Dr. Hanson is passionate about his small hobby farm, which includes miniature cows, goats, chickens, and ducks. He enjoys woodworking, gardening, and brewing craft beer in his spare time. Dr. Hanson’s own pack includes two boxers, Brendal and Rayland, and a Red Heeler named Maggie.

Dr. Patricia Ziegler, a longtime member of the VCA Parkcrest team, has been serving the Springfield community since 1992. With a strong background in continuing education and professional development, Dr. Ziegler remains current in the latest veterinary advancements. She has a particular interest in competitive shooting, photography, hiking, and reading, and enjoys spending time crafting in her downtime.

Together, our team provides a wide range of services—from routine wellness visits to advanced diagnostics and emergency care. Our highly trained veterinary technicians and skilled support staff work together to ensure that every pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout their visit.

At VCA Parkcrest Animal Hospital, we take pride in being more than just a veterinary clinic—we’re a compassionate community dedicated to supporting you and your pets through every stage of their life.
