Dr. Jennifer Holmes has been a dedicated veterinarian at VCA Southeast Portland Animal Hospital since June 1998, joining the team shortly after earning her degree from the University of Georgia. Originally from Georgia, she has called the Pacific Northwest home ever since, drawn to its natural beauty and strong sense of community.
With over 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Holmes is passionate about caring for pets at every stage of life. She has a special interest in urgent care, wellness, and geriatric patients, and takes pride in forming long-term relationships with both pets and their families. She is especially skilled in managing chronic conditions such as Addison's disease and diabetes, and she also has a strong interest in dentistry, helping pets enjoy healthier lives through proper oral care.
Since 2021, Dr. Holmes has served as the hospital's medical director. In this role, she is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care and ensuring that every patient receives compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based treatment.
Outside of work, Dr. Holmes enjoys spending time in nature—whether hiking, camping, or playing softball. She shares her home with three dogs and two cats, who keep her on her toes and continually inspire her love of animals.
