Since I was a young child, I was always taking care of animals. I grew up in Balltown, Iowa, on my family owned farm. I grew up around pigs, cows, chickens, cats and dogs. I also had some pocket pets growing up as well such as hamsters and gerbils. I was always outside taking care of the animals, whether it was trying to heal kittens from their upper respiratory infections or spending time with one of the many dogs I had in my life. Growing up I knew I wanted to work with animals, and during high school, I became interested in biology and human anatomy. That led me to Upper Iowa for 2 years working on a degree in forensic science, which I then switched to biology. I really started to miss working with animals and taking care of them. I then transferred to the Veterinary Technician program at Kirkwood Community College. In my free time, I enjoy going on adventures with my dog, Buck, who I adopted through the Vet Tech Program at Kirkwood. I enjoy being able to help other people understand and keep their animals healthy so I am so glad to be apart of the VCA Edgewood Animal Hospital Team!
