Dr. Rhianne Maxwell was raised in San Diego, CA, and loves practicing close to home.
She attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and her Master's degree in Comparative Animal Nutrition. Her training included an exotic animal nutrition fellowship at the San Diego Zoo and an animal nutrition internship with Disney's Animal Kingdom. She also participated in research projects pertaining to leopard tortoise, equine, and insectivore nutrition.
After realizing her passion for clinical nutrition and medicine, she studied at the University of California, Davis for veterinary school. As a student she demonstrated a continued interest in nutrition and was a student ambassador for Nestle Purina. Following graduation, Dr. Maxwell completed a small animal rotating internship to receive advanced training in internal medicine, critical care, and surgery at VCA Loomis Basin in the Sacramento area.
Dr. Maxwell's favorite part about veterinary medicine is helping owners care for their pets. Her professional interests include nutrition, internal medicine, pain management, and dentistry.
During her free time, she loves spending time with family, friends, and her cats. Her hobbies are always evolving but she currently enjoys trying new restaurants, cooking, video games, reading, running, learning new languages, and yarn crafts.
