Dr. Alana Gage grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and always knew she would become a veterinarian because of her deep love of and concern for animals.
She moved to the U.S. with her family as a teenager and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2009. Dr. Gage worked as a veterinary technician for many years, (including three years at Blum!), prior to attending veterinary school. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2022.
Dr. Gage's specific veterinary interests include surgery, dentistry, behavior, and dermatology. She strongly feels that a veterinarian's responsibility is to protect the bond between people and their pets through education and preventative medicine.
Dr. Gage lives in a northern suburb of Chicago with two senior dachshunds, D'Artagnan Phillippe (Phiphi) and Bidu, an energetic miniature pinscher named Anubis, a (slightly overweight) kitty named Sapeca Fiorella, a 26 year old cockatoo named Pretty Bird, and a hognose snake named Barnabee McHuffinPuff. In her free time, Dr. Gage enjoys practicing yoga, going for long walks, and reading.
