Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Dre Carlomagno earned both her bachelor's degree in Animal Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee. She joined VCA in 2020 and has been on the VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital team since 2022.
Dr. Dre has a deep passion for emergency medicine and brings a steady, calming presence to even the most intense situations. Whether she's treating pets with serious internal issues like Addison's disease, caring for critically ill patients, or handling emergencies involving multiple injuries, she approaches each case with skill and compassion. She has a special interest in treating respiratory conditions, CPR and pain management, hydration therapy, and feeding tube placement. She takes pride in empowering pet parents by clearly explaining both gold standard and more cost-conscious treatment options, ensuring families can feel confident in making informed decisions for their pets. Dr. Dre especially loves working with cats! She takes great joy in working with both our feline patients and their dedicated owners.
What Dr. Dre loves most about her work is the opportunity to serve—whether that means supporting pet parents through tough moments, collaborating with her team, or simply lending a hand where it's needed most. Her compassion and curiosity shine in every aspect of her care.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Dre enjoys rock climbing, bodybuilding, mental health advocacy, nature walks, and spending time with her family. She's currently searching for that special feline companion to win her over. Her beloved late horse Juice remains irreplaceable in her heart.
