Jaymie Zweig

Veterinarian

DVM (Practice Limited to Surgery)

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Jaymie Zweig earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Ryerson University in Toronto. In 2016, she left Canada to pursue her veterinary degree at Ross University on the island of St. Kitts, where she completed three academic years before finishing clinical training at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Ultimately, graduating in 2019 with highest honors, and was inducted into the Phi Zeta Honor Society.

Following graduation, Dr. Zweig completed a rotating internship and a specialty surgery internship at VMCLI in Long Island, NY, followed by a second specialty surgery internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC) in Toronto, Canada. She then went on to pursue a small animal surgery residency at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island.

Although having not grown up with pets, she knew from a young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian and sought every opportunity to be around animals—volunteering at shelters, walking neighborhood dogs, and pet sitting. In high school, a cooperative education program at a veterinary clinic sparked her passion for surgery, and prior to vet school, she worked her way through nearly every role in a clinic—animal care attendant, veterinary assistant, receptionist, and technician—before achieving her lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Now in South Florida for the first time, she feels right at home. Having grown up visiting Hollywood, FL, every winter with her snowbird family, she is excited to officially trade in cold weather for our year-round sunshine.

When not in the hospital, Dr. Zweig can be found outdoors hiking, biking, or playing disc golf. She is a fan of stand-up comedy, live music, and—most importantly—spending time with her island dog, Goose.
