After growing up on a horse and cattle ranch in Millboro, South Dakota, Dr. Jody Hanson attended South Dakota State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Pursuing his love of animals and science, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2000. Dr. Jody joined VCA Animal Hospital with more than 19 years of experience in surgery, emergency, and small animal medicine. He has a strong interest in abdominal ultrasound, pain relief for older pets, and veterinary herbal medicine. Dr. Jody has a small hobby farm that includes three miniature cows, four miniature goats, numerous chickens, and two ducks. Other members of his family include two boxers, Brendal and Rayland, and a Red Heeler, Maggie. His other hobbies include woodworking, gardening, and brewing craft beer.
