Dr. Herring received her DVM degree from the University of Illinois and completed a rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York the following year. After spending a year in general practice, she transitioned to emergency medicine for eight years before pursuing a three-year residency in emergency and critical care at the University of Illinois. During her residency, Dr. Herring also earned a master’s degree in veterinary clinical medicine. She completed her board certification in Emergency and Critical Care in 2013.
Post-residency, Dr. Herring joined the University of Tennessee as a clinical professor for two years and then worked at a large veterinary specialty center as a staff criticalist and head of the emergency and critical care department. Her clinical interests include extracorporeal therapies, sepsis, transfusion medicine, and coagulation. Dr. Herring’s leadership style centers on team building and transparent communication to drive effective change.
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as her furry companions: two cats, Beef and Sheriff, and a gorgeous but naughty Catahoula mix named Dennis.
