Dr. Leanna Boyd was born and raised in San Jose, California, and received her bachelor's degree in Animal Science with a minor in Biology from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. She spent most of her free time in college volunteering with a marine mammal rescue program and after graduation lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, for two years working as a veterinary assistant while applying to veterinary school. Dr. Boyd received her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, California.
Dr. Boyd is getting married next July at a zoo to her college sweetheart, Kody, to grow her family which includes a miniature black and tan Dachshund named Tyrion (aka Mr. Weenie) and a cream colored, one-eyed Chihuahua named Chloe. Whenever possible, Dr. Boyd enjoys traveling, hiking, dancing, reading, horseback riding, watching movies, and spending time with friends.
