Sonya Shaw was born and raised in Michigan and attended Hope College for undergrad. Upon graduation from Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, she completed an academic rotating internship at Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan, Canada. 

Dr. Shaw joins VCA Hollywood as part of our surgical team to gain more hands-on surgical experience as she aspires to become board-certified in small animal surgery with a special interest in soft tissue surgery.  

In her spare time, Dr. Shaw enjoys reading, sewing new outfits, and spending time with friends. She is looking forward to enjoying the Florida outdoors while paddle boarding, and hiking with her miniature dachshund, "Ember."
