Dr. Pfund, originally from Germany, has been trained in veterinary medicine in Germany, Spain, and the USA. Following graduation from the reputable University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany she obtained her US veterinary license by completing the rigorous ECFVG program.

Initially starting her career with horses, she soon discovered her true passion in small animal medicine, focusing on cats and dogs. Regardless of species, her dedication to surgery has remained a constant throughout her career.

Dr. Pfund completed a rotating internship in Medicine and Surgery at VCA Animal Specialty Group in San Diego, CA, followed by a surgical internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley, CA. She then pursued a three-year surgical residency at VCA Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles, CA, where she served as chief resident. During this time, Dr. Pfund presented at multiple national conferences and was honored with the prestigious Mark S. Bloomberg Award.

Her professional interests span all areas of surgery, with a special focus on minimally invasive procedures, oncologic surgery, and total hip replacement. She remains committed to staying current with the latest advancements in veterinary surgical techniques.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Pfund enjoys an active lifestyle. She spends her free time hiking with her shepherd mix, Mable, and loves traveling, kitesurfing, and snowboarding.
