Doctor Roy grew up on a small farm in New Hampshire and also worked in construction before matriculating from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. After moving to Knoxville, he attended classes at the University of Tennessee until admission to Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Roy was accepted to an internship program at The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine which was followed immediately after by a surgical residency at the same institution. During his time of surgical training, Dr. Roy was able to complete a Master’s of Science Degree and was invited to participate in research at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

With completion of the research and surgical residency, tired of the cold, Dr. Roy moved with his family to Florida to work with the noted local surgeon Dr. Jon Dee and the associates and staff of Hollywood Animal Hospital until starting his own mobile surgical practice in 1994. The practice rapidly grew necessitating the opening, in 1998 of Palm Beach County’s first specialty referral center-Palm Beach Veterinary Referral & Critical Care Center. The practice grew rapidly and a name change soon followed. Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists opened the doors in its current location of a new, and much larger physical plant in 2010.This new, award winning institution, remains the largest specialty practice of its kind in the state of Florida. At the new location, Dr. Roy is able to practice and deliver the highest level of medicine and community continuing education. Dr. Roy remains the Director of Medicine and Surgery since the practice’s inception. His professional interests include all aspects of surgery but he is especially interested in the diagnosis and treatment of canine and feline musculoskeletal disorders and neurological disorders in dogs and cats, as well as the surgical and medical management of neoplastic (tumor) diseases. In addition, Dr. Roy has been enthusiastically working with and providing complete, state-of-the-art care to the canine officers of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).In his off time, Dr. Roy enjoys spending time with his family, his three dogs, and two cats, reading and fishing.
