Recommended veterinary care for new kittens includes wellness examinations, vaccinations (including boosters), deworming and parasite prevention. To get your pet’s exam fees covered and distribute the costs of first-year kitten veterinary care, consider looking into a CareClub® Pet Health Care Plan.
The first visit is the 8-week kitten veterinary visit, which includes a physical exam, the first round of kitten vaccines, deworming and getting started on parasite preventives. Your VCA care team will review your kitten health care plan with you at the first veterinary visit to ensure you’re prepared for a healthy kittenhood.
Your kitten should see their veterinarian every 3 to 4 weeks from the time they are 6 to 8 weeks old until they’re 16 to 20 weeks old. During these appointments, you’ll learn about kitten health needs and your veterinarian will check for kitten health issues. These appointments include the necessary vaccine boosters for the kitten vaccine protocol. After the final round of kitten boosters, your VCA care team will discuss plans for future veterinary care with you.
