Dr. Shanti Coleman is a rotating intern at VCA Alameda East with a special interest in emergency and exotic animal medicine. A proud graduate and valedictorian of North Carolina State University's Class of 2025, they are known for their clinical curiosity, upbeat attitude, and compassion in high-pressure situations.
With hands-on experience ranging from critical care to wildlife/zoological medicine, Dr. Coleman has worked with everything from household pets to red wolves and sea turtles. They bring a strong foundation in small animal medicine, exceptional teamwork, and a passion for complex cases to every shift.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Coleman enjoys hiking, birdwatching, and spending time with their dog (Stella) and snake (Alfredo). They especially love serving as a race veterinarian for the Eagle Cap Extreme, where their medical skills meet their love of the outdoors. Dr. Coleman also enjoys taking their nieces and nephews to the zoo to inspire the next generation of animal lovers.
