Dr. Laura West grew up in Lilburn, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University in 2003, then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Georgia in 2007.
After graduating, Dr. West pursued advanced training in internal medicine, completing a rotating internship at VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Clinic and a focused internship at Animal Specialty Group, before finishing her residency at San Diego Veterinary Specialty Hospital in 2012 and becoming board certified in veterinary internal medicine (DACVIM). She has a particular interest in GI disease, senior feline medicine, and endocrine disorders.
During her free time, Dr. West enjoys gardening, hiking, wildlife and macro photography, and traveling whenever she gets the chance. At home, she shares her life with her husband, Dylan, and their five cats: Mokuba, Sophie, Joey, Seto, and Yugi.
With a commitment to compassionate, skilled care and a passion for solving complex medical cases, Dr. West is proud to bring her internal medicine expertise to the team at VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic and her community.
